The golden ratio 1.618 (the divine proportion) is a mathematical formulation exhibited in everything from the double helix to DNA. The DNA molecule – the code for life – is made up of 2 intertwining spirals. We find the 1.618 ratio between the helix’s width and the cycle length.

Researchers from the Helmhottz-Zentrum Berlin Fur Materalien Und Energie (HZB), in cooperation with colleagues from Oxford and Bristol Universities, as well as the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, UK, have for the first time observed a nanoscale symmetry hidden in solid state matter to the golden ratio of 1.618. This is yet another empirical evidence for life / intelligent design.
